THE SORROWFUL MYSTERIES
OF OUR LORD, JESUS CHRIST
1) Agony in the Garden
2) Scourging at the Pillar
3) Crowning with Thorns
4) Carrying the Cross
5) The Crucifixion
Call to mind any intentions and pray that they may be in union with God's will.
1) Make the sign of the cross. (In the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen.)
2) Recite the Apostles Creed:

I believe in God, the Father almighty creator of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
3) Praying for the intentions of our Holy Father and for all bishops leading our pilgrim church:
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us of our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

3) Praying for the an increase in the virtues of faith, hope, and charity:

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen. (x3)

4) Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and forever shall be, world without end. Amen.
iv) Oh my Jesus, forgive us our sins and save us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls into heaven, especially those in most need of thy mercy. Amen.
1st SORROWFUL MYSTERY:
AGONY IN THE GARDEN
iii) Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
We are called to imitate Christ in realizing that God's will is always paramount to our will, and so we must plead for His will to be done over ours, even amidst suffering.
i) Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us of our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

2nd SORROWFUL MYSTERY:
SCOURGING AT THE PILLAR
iii) Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Amidst this painful beating, Christ willingly submits to it if it means His children don't have to endure eternal suffering.
i) Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us of our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

3rd SORROWFUL MYSTERY:
CROWNING WITH THORNS
iii) Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Christ submits Himself to terrible humiliation to make reparation for our own pride. Feel the sting of the thorns as blood drips down to His parched lips, while He's spat at and struck forcefully on the head.
i) Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on Earth, as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread, and forgive us of our trespasses. 4th SORROWFUL MYSTERY:
CARRYING THE CROSS
iii) Glory be to the Father, to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Christ allows Himself to be overtaken by the weight of the cross as He patiently carries it to His place of execution. Imagine Mary in this moment especially, experiencing the worst pain for a mother.

5th SORROWFUL MYSTERY:
THE CRUCIFIXION
As Christ's hands and feet are nailed into the wood of the cross, He is victorious in that He accomplished that which God, the Father set out for Him.

As we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this exile
show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

Pray for us, most holy Mother of God,

that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.
Let us pray, O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life. Grant, we beseech thee, that by meditating upon these mysteries of the most holy rosary, of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that we may imitate what they contain, and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen.
